Meet Kimberley Davies-Phippen, Marketing Consultant in Nottingham
Hi, I’m Kimberley Davies-Phippen – a marketing consultant and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, with an MBA from ESCP, one of Europe’s leading business schools. I’ve spent over 20 years growing businesses at the highest level, including senior roles at Bauer Media and Reed Exhibitions.
But the experience that shapes everything I now do is this: I’ve helped build and sell a service-based business alongside my husband – our own financial planning practice here in Nottingham. So when I sit down with a founder and say I know what it feels like when the pipeline is uncertain, I mean it literally. That’s not a positioning line. That’s my life.
That’s exactly why I founded The Marketing Hothouse – to help founders of service-based businesses get their marketing working properly, so they can grow consistently, profitably and finally get the business that rewards them the way it should.
The story behind The Marketing Hothouse
Finding a marketing system that actually works
Those early days of building our business were tough. The uncertainty around where the next client would come from was exhausting, with the constant struggle to keep it all going. There was always something that needed attention, and marketing kept slipping down the list. Over time I found a clear marketing system that actually delivers. One that brings clarity and results, without the overwhelm. The same system I now use with every client I work with – and that helped grow Acanthus Cast Stone’s turnover from £1.3 million to £2.8 million over four years.
The turning point
Looking back, I wish we’d had this system from day one. We’d have grown faster and saved ourselves a lot of stress. That’s exactly why I created The Marketing Hothouse, to help ambitious founders build a thriving, profitable business that finally rewards them the way it should.
Why I do what I do
I love what I do. And what I love most is helping founder-led businesses take on the Goliaths of their industry – and compete. Not with a bigger budget or a bigger team, but with sharper positioning, a clearer message and a consistent flow of the right clients. Helping an ambitious, focused business punch above its weight and win clients they have no right to win on size alone – that’s exactly what gets me out of bed in the morning.
The qualifications and experience behind it all
I bring the marketing expertise, the commercial acumen and the lived experience of someone who’s actually built a service-based business.
I’m a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing with an MBA from ESCP, one of Europe’s leading business schools, and over 20 years’ experience working for some of the UK and Europe’s leading businesses. I think about marketing the way a business owner does – in terms of revenue, profit and return on investment. Not tactics for their own sake. Growth that actually means something.
I’m also a council member of Nottingham City Business Club and a trustee of the Belvoir Education and Sports Trust, supporting disadvantaged children in the East Midlands to lead happy, healthy lives.
And when I’m not working? You’ll probably find me and my golden Labrador Pecan on a mission of our own – sniffing out Nottinghamshire’s best indie coffee spots. Bonus points if there are doggie treats behind the counter!
Making the most
of every penny.
Good marketing isn’t just about getting more clients, it’s about making every pound work as hard as possible. I’ll help you build a strategy that delivers consistent, profitable growth, without wasting money on things that don’t work.
The right people, right when you need them
One of the hardest things in marketing is knowing who to trust. Over the years I’ve built a network of tried and trusted specialists, in copy, design, digital, web development, social media, SEO and PPC, who I can call on when you need them. You get the right expertise at the right time, without the hassle of finding it yourself.
